Photos: Over 1700 African migrants, including babies rescued in the Mediterranean in one day

MSF Sea and the Italian Navy have rescued about 1700 African migrants, including small children and babies from dozens of small boats in the Mediterranean during the course of Thursday, June 23. Many of the unseaworthy rubber boats were spotted about 40km from the coast. The rescue ships are currently heading to Italy with the migrants.

Uchechukwu Ejimonye sentenced to 22 years in prison for murder of teen in London Uchechukwu Ejimonye, 20 was sentenced yesterday, Thursday, 23 June to 22 years imprisonment for killing 17-year-old Vasilaki Kakko in Holloway, east London. Detective Inspector Mick Norman, from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "What started as an evening out with friends quickly escalated into a moment of extreme violence. Whilst it is unclear what led Ejimonye to fatally stab Vasso, it is obvious to most people that there is never any excuse to take someone else's life." Dino Melaye on Tuesday June 21st on the floor of the senate, spoke against the planned arraignment of the Senate President Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, over alleged forgery of the Senate's standing orders during the election that made them emerge senate leaders in June 2015. Dino condemned the suit filed by FG against the senate leaders, arguing that the act is a grand design to distract the National Assembly and also to intimidate it into silence and enthrone a one-man rule. 68 year old Granny and passionate Brexit supporter Teresa Hicks, says polling staff told her yesterday she was inappropriately dressed and so wasn’t allowed to cast her ballot.The Grandmother who wore Union Jack glasses and flags attached to a headband claims she was told the police would be told unless she left immediately. Teresa said: “I was just in the queue and this man came up to me and said ‘you are inappropriately dressed’ so I asked if they’d send somebody away with a burka on? “I even offered to put a coat around the poster which I had around my waist but they just said ‘no’. “I went outside but the same man told me if I didn’t leave leave the premises he was going to call the police.
