MSF Sea and the Italian Navy have rescued about 1700 African migrants, including small children and babies from dozens of small boats in the Mediterranean during the course of Thursday, June 23. Many of the unseaworthy rubber boats were spotted about 40km from the coast. The rescue ships are currently heading to Italy with the migrants.

Uchechukwu Ejimonye sentenced to 22 years in prison for murder of teen in London Uchechukwu Ejimonye, 20 was sentenced yesterday, Thursday, 23 June to 22 years imprisonment for killing 17-year-old Vasilaki Kakko in Holloway, east London. Detective Inspector Mick Norman, from the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "What started as an evening out with friends quickly escalated into a moment of extreme violence.
