  A Delta State High Court, sitting in Ozoro, has sentenced a former Education Secretary of BomadiLocal Government Education Authority, Mr. Abayomi Tom Kelekumor, to five years imprisonment for employing his daughter, Miss Preye Tom, into the service of the Local Government Education Authority. Kelekumor, who was sentenced by Justice BrikiOkolosi, without an option of fine, was accused by theIndependent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) of violating Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act, 2000, by using his position to confer unfair advantage upon his relation. The offence is also punishable under the same section. The Commission, in a one-count charge, said that the convict gave employment to his daughter, who was then a Senior Secondary Two (SS2) student, into the local government service, knowing fully well that she was at the same time a full-time student.   Justice M.S Shuaibu of Federal High Court, Kaduna has convicted and sentenced one Abdulkarim Usman to 3years imprisonment for Conspiracy and Obtaining Money Under False Pretence to the tune of N 5, 100,00 ( Five Million, One Hundred Thousand Naira). Usman's sojourn to prison began when a petition was received by the Kaduna office having fraudulently posed to have secured a contract with the Nigeria Communication Commission, NCC, to supply engine oil. He told the unsuspecting complainant that he needed money to commence the said contract which they released into his bank accounts after having discussed with them, he however vanished upon receipt of the monies. Justice Shuaibu added that the 3 years imprisonment is to run on each three counts consecutively and another three years if the convict fails to pay restitution to the victims in the sum of N 5,100,000 and another N 2, 000,000 which he fraudulently obtained respectively. A Chinese man from south-east China got more than he bargained for when the three women he was secretly dating found out they were being played. On Monday, the women confronted the man and descended on him together after they had filed a police report in Nanning city. According to local report, the three girlfriends claimed that the man identified as Mr. Fu , stole their heart and their money. The scorned girlfriends said he scammed them of 200,000 yuan (£22,770) each Guangxi Television reported that the three women were completely unaware they were dating the same man. One of the woman, identified as Ms Li , met Mr Fu through work. They quickly fell in love and started a relationship. She said she even lent him her Mini Cooper and when he asked her for money - 200,000 yuan (£22,770) - for his mother's surgery. A woman was lucky to escape alive from a ritualist den after the chief priest rejected her, and she has narrated how she watched others get killed after they all boarded a bus together only to find themselves in a forest later. The woman boarded the bus last Friday in Benin, Edo state, with other passengers, but they were taken to a forest at upper Ekhehuan for ritual purposes. She told of how she watched them slaughter the only other female passenger who boarded the bus with them. Next, they slaughtered two male passengers. When it got to her turn, the chief priest rejected her and she was thrown out of the forest naked. She was eventually rescued by passers-by. Read the story below.

  The Ondo state police command is currently on the trail of two armed robbery suspects, Rotimi Adeyeye and Adeoye Bukola, who reportedly escaped from a cell at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad SARS of the police command. A source in the command said the suspects were arrested for cultism but later discovered to have been responsible for the robbery attack that took place at the home of one Samuel Arifalo in Ijoka area of the state on April 30th this year. The suspects have been in police custody for 16 days but on Monday July 2nd, they escaped from police cell with handcuffs still on them. Till now, the police is yet to rearrest them. Confirming the escape, the spokesperson of the state police command, Femi Joseph, said the command had started investigation into the matter.   The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the party is not factionalised contrary to the picture painted by members of the recently formed faction, the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC). Recall that on Wednesday July 4th, politician and founding member of the APC, Buba Galadima, led a revolt against the Adams Oshiomhole-led APC National Working Committee, which, he said, was a product impunity. Himself and his followers announced a national executive with the aim to reform the APC. The ruling party has denied this claim.   Chris Brown was reportedly arrested in Florida late Thursday for an outstanding warrant. The 29-year-old singer was arrested after his West Palm Beach show at the Coral Sky Ampitheatre stemming from an outstanding warrant, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. According to Page Six, he was wanted on a felony battery warrant from the Hilllsborough County Sheriff’s office. Brown who has a lengthy legal history, including a domestic violence arrest in 2009 after beating up then-girlfriend Rihanna , a 2013 hit-and-run and a 2016 arrest for assault with a deadly weapon was later released after paying a $2,000 bond, the station said.

The Osun Police Command has arrested the wife of a traditional ruler and two persons   suspected to have set ablaze the house of  her rival, killing her three-year-old step daughter in the process.   The Commissioner  of  Police in the state, Olafimihan Adeoye, who disclosed this to newsmen, said the husband of the suspect and a traditional ruler, Oba Morufudeen Olawale, reported the incident to the command. Olawale is the Alabudo of Abudo in Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun, Adeoye alleged that the suspect and her accomplices at about 1. am on June 6th, left their base in Ede for Abudo where the other wife and her late daughter reside and set her house ablaze while both were inside.   Catholic priest, Reverend Father Andrew Anah who was abducted on Wednesday in Delta State, has regained his freedom. The parish priest of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Obomkpa, was abducted by gunmen along the Obomkpa/Issele-Uku Road making It was the second time he would be abducted in less than 12 months. The Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, Andew Aniamaka, confirmed that the priest had regained his freedom. He said the police would ensure that the culprits are apprehended.  Father Anah was first kidnapped in August 2017 along the same road. He was released after an undisclosed sun was allegedly paid. This comes about 48 hours after Governor Ifeanyi Okowa decried the rising activities of kidnappers in the state.   A very embarrassing video trending online shows two Christians fighting for who will preach in a bus in Anambra state. The spiritual warfare happened on Tuesday, July 3, in a bus that took off from Awka. According to reports, the man belongs to the Protestant denomination while the woman belongs to the Catholic denomination. Juliet Ifediba who narrated the incident and shared the video said the man stood up to preach first but the woman stood almost immediately to begin praying the Rosary. This led to a fight for who will be allowed to preach. At some point in the video, the woman is seen crying as she held up a statue of Mary and a Rosary, while the man is seen casting out every distraction by the power of the "Holy Spirit". The Nigeria Customs Service, Kaduna state command have intercepted a tanker stacked with various brands of foreign parboiled rice numbering over 1,000 bags. The Comptroller of Customs Federal Operation Unit zone ‘B’ Kaduna, Usman Dakingari, made this known to newsmen at the command's office in the state capital.  He said the rice smugglers stacked thousands of bags of   rice in the petrol tanker to give the impression that they were transporting petroleum products. He noted that the smugglers were arrested after intelligence information and regular surveillance by customs officials in Kaduna State. This arrest comes one month after the Federal government placed a ban on the importation of rice.

British Olympic athlete, Tom Daley and his husband Dustin Lance Black were pictured with their newborn son Robert Ray for the first time during a family outing in Los Angeles on Tuesday. The doting dads who were casually dressed for the outing were seen enjoying a stroll in the sunshine together. Daley and Dustin who got married in May last year after dating for three years, welcomed their son via surrogate on June 27. Yesterday, a youth corps member, Linda Angela Igwetu, who was meant to pass out today July 5th, was shot dead by a trigger-happy policeman in Abuja. Linda was out celebrating her passing out with her friends when the policeman shot the car she was in. She sustained gunshot wound and was rushed to Garki hospital but the hospital refused treating her because there was no police report authorizing them to treat her gunshot wound. She bled to death.   A 92-year-old woman has allegedly killed her son in Arizona because she did not want to be sent to an assisted living facility. Anna Mae Blessing was charged with first degree murder, aggravated assault and kidnapping after authorities found her 72-year-old son dead on Monday at their home in Fountain Hills. Blessing hid two pistols in the pockets of her robe and shot her son several times in his bedroom, the sheriff's office said in a statement. Her son's girlfriend was also in the room and said she heard Blessing telling her son she was tired of the way he treated her, court documents said. "From my understanding, she had thought about it for a few days because there was a dispute regarding her son wanting to put her in an assisted living home," Maricopa County Sgt. A Federal High Court, sitting in Osogbo, Osun state capital has ordered the National Assembly to immediately commence impeachment process against President Muhammadu Buhari. The judge gave the order on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 based on the suit filed by two Nigerians, Kanmi Ajibola, a lawyer and Sulaiman Adeniyi, a human right activist, urging the court to enforce the National Assembly to impeach President Buhari.
