International Committee of the Red Cross raise alarm after 3 young nurses working with them were abducted; one killed while the other two risk death
Peter Maurer, the President of the International Committee of the Red
Cross, ICRC, has called out for the intervention of the government of
Nigeria after three young female nurses working with them were abducted
and one of them was killed while the other two lives are at risk.
According to Mr Maurer, a 24-year-old midwife named Hauwa (pictured above) was abducted since March alongside another midwife named Saifura and a nurse named Alice. All three women dedicated their lives to helping others in northern Nigeria.
Two weeks ago, Saifura was brutally executed by their abductors. Hauwa and Alice who are still alive risk being killed too. According to Maurer, Hauwa could be executed in a few hours if help doesn't come to them.
He's appealing to the government to intervene and see that they are released soon.
